Liberty University File Storage Options

Liberty University currently supports several different methods of storing documents and data in the "cloud." While you can always store files on your local hard drives, Information Services always recommends backing up to a secondary location in the event that something happens to your machine. This article is intended to explain what options are available based on your needs. 

 

Dropbox:

Dropbox is a cloud storage tool that has several pros as a choice for storage. Below is a list of some features of using Dropbox: 

Features: 
Files can be opened and edited without VPN access. 

Access is granted based on account. Team folders can be created and shared with other users.

Dropbox for Liberty University can be installed on both Personal and Work machines. 

Unlimited storage for work purposes

Dropbox is FERPA-compliant. No HIPAA data is allowed.

Molly Drives:

Molly is a storage solution built and hosted by Liberty University.  Below is a list of some features of using Molly Drives.

 Features:

 2GB Limit
Molly is available to all staff and students 
Snapshot feature to retrieve previously deleted documents  
Requires user to be on campus or use VPN to connect to Liberty's network

OneDrive:

OneDrive is a cloud storage solution created by Microsoft and is included in Office 365. Below are some features of OneDrive.

 Features:

OneDrive can be accessed on any computer via any browser and does not require any install

Cloud based means can be accessed online only

Does not require any VPN 

You can sync up to 20,000 items in your OneDrive for Business library, including folders and files.

Total storage in your OneDrive cannot exceed 1TB

You can sync up to 5,000 items in site libraries, including folders and files.

In any library, you can download files up to 2 GB.
