Financial Aid
Students
Students seeking an extension or adjustment to institutional scholarships that no longer fit the stated guidelines must submit a written appeal to the Financial Aid Office at https://beacon.os.liberty.edu/beacon/#/new/student-complaint. Only written complaints submitted through the designated process will be considered official.
This policy is in place to ensure proper use and disbursement of institutional aid.
Scholarship: Financial aid that does not have to be repaid. Scholarships may be received from Liberty University or an external organization. In order to be eligible for Liberty scholarships, the student must have a complete and verified FAFSA on file annually.
Complaint: Liberty University defines a “written complaint” as any complaint submitted through the official Beacon complaint form as a “Student Complaint”. Other forms of communication will not be considered official complaints.
Institutional Scholarship Appeal Process
A student may appeal the decision to cancel eligibility for a scholarship by sending a detailed, written and signed letter stating any mitigating circumstances to be considered. The Financial Aid Scholarship Appeals Committee reviews the submitted appeal and supporting documentation. To submit an appeal, go to https://beacon.os.liberty.edu/beacon/#/new/student-complaint select “New” and “Scholarship Appeal”. Proceed with each prompt and submit the form.
If you have previously declined institutional scholarship funding and want to inquire about future eligibility, please send your request in writing to finaid@liberty.edu.
